Hiram was living near N. Lawrence, Douglas Co. KS in 1866. His Uncle Henry Smith (my gg grandfather) wrote him a letter while he was there requesting that he take a coat to his cousin Henry Gilbert Smith over in Coffey Co. He also asked him to bring back a "buffalow" hide. He returned to live in Vigo Co., IN.Mary Kuykendall, was a sister to Weldon Kuykendall who married Clara Smith, daughter of Milton Smith, a son of Henry Smith, and brother to Henry Gilbert Smith.
Milton and his family including Weldon and Clara settled in Edwards Co., KS in 1884. It was here my great grandmother Mary Jane Martz Smith went as a widow sometime between 1890 and 1900.
